The mission of this centre is to empower women and youth spiritually, morally and economically through education and skills training.
Our vision is centered on:
1) Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do right, seek justice, encourage the oppressed, defend the cause of the fatherless and plead the case of the widow.”
2) The Third Millenium Development Goal: “Promote gender equality and empower women” through education and skills training.
The Shalom Women Centre aims at i) empowering women through education and skills training ii) providing life skills, iii) creating socio-economic opportunities for vulnerable women and young girls, v) forming stronger communities, and vi) providing a place where women of all socio-economic statues can meet.
Hairdressing: styling, braiding (plaiting).
Dressmaking: a) Designing of table mat, back rest, bed sheets and kitchen towel, mitten, bread bag, eprom…etc
b) sewing of babies, children, women and men dresses.
c) Traditional marking, embroidery, knitting, crocheting.
Cookery: yogurt, Birthday and wedding cake, bread , fish pie, donut, fruit juice, salad, local dish… etc.
Seminars on soap making, powder soap, tye and dye, sales techniques, marketing skills.
Life skills education (Educative talks) on: parenting, home base care, marriage, stigma & discrimination, family planning, prevention of malaria, cholera and HIV/AIDS, balance diet, health talk, hypertension…etc
Other activities: Bible studies, handicraft, sales techniques, marketing skills, computer training, spiritual counseling and physical education.
